With its largest rum distillery set up in Puerto Rico, Bacardi is the world’s largest privately-owned liquor company.

They initially started producing rum but have since evolved into producing more products, such as gin, scotch, vodka, and other spirits, rocketing ahead of over 200 brands in the worldwide market.

About Bacardi

Bacardi offers us a wide range of selections according to the occasion. They have their lighter rums which are globally loved by cocktail enthusiasts, such as those who love a refreshing Mojito or Daiquiri.

Their darker rums owe their complexity in flavor and character to a longer aging period. From mixed drinks to neat sipping, Bacardi has all sorts of drinks to make your drinking experience the best one yet.

According to the company, around 6 million Original Bacardi Cuba Libre cocktails are enjoyed around the world daily.

The feel and texture of Bacardi rum are considered one of the finest among those with cultivated and sophisticated palettes.

With their exclusive strain of yeast that they refer to as ‘La Levadura Bacardi,’ this brand continues to win hearts all around the world with its unique flavor profile.

The Making of Bacardi

The sweet flavor of this rum gives away the main ingredient used in its making: sugarcane. While their sugarcane is sourced from all over the world, they have consistently maintained the quality of their product over the years.

The molasses from sugarcane are mixed with water and Bacardi’s patent yeast, followed by a fermentation process of over 30 hours. These closed fermentation tanks give Bacardi its signature flavor and character.

The distilled mixture of molasses is infused with banana, caramel, molasses flavor, nutmeg, white pepper spices, and vanilla and is aged for long periods to give Bacardi its renowned taste and smell of alcohol. The aging process takes place in charred oak barrels, which essentially gives the rum its smoky flavor.

A different aging period is adopted for every variety offered under the Bacardi brand name, from a minimum of one year to a maximum of 10.

They are available in many forms, ranging from superior white to premium aged. These also include the variants clear, pale dark, black, and navy.

Common Bacardi Prices List

common bacardi prices

Unlike other rum brands, such as the Malibu, Sailor Jerry, Kraken, etc., the Bacardi liquor is relatively affordable.

It is very unusual for a bottle of rum priced as low as around $12 to deliver the elite flavor that Bacardi does. The longer the rum is aged, the more expensive it is in the market.

The regular Bacardi is distilled to a 70-80 proof, with the Bacardi 151 being distilled to a proof of 151 (75.5 percent alcohol).

The latter is enlisted as the top 10 strongest alcoholic drinks from around the world. This high-quality rum is known for its high alcohol content and extraordinarily unmatched taste.
