Miele Coffee Maker Review – Top 4 Tested and Reviewed for 2024

Miele coffee makers are frequently forgotten when considering the best coffee makers on the market. These industrial-grade coffee makers are one of the best options for your home-produced java. They are also one of the easiest ways to enjoy a coffeehouse-style coffee without leaving the house.

When I say that Miele makes an industrial-grade coffee maker, that doesn’t mean it isn’t made for your home. These high-end appliances are perfectly designed for personal use. They bring you beautiful styling, industrial-grade construction, and commercial-quality performance.

Miele was originally a maker of industrial restaurant equipment. Over time their reputation has evolved from a great option for your restaurant to one of the most beautiful and functional appliance lines for everyday use at home or at the office.

Their coffee makers are no exception. If you love the Miele line of appliances, you are probably considering the best Miele coffee makers for your kitchen. Miele offers a wide range of coffee machines; from basic espresso makers to built-in coffee machines that tuck out of the way, so your counter is available for cooking.

I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to spend some time with a number of Miele coffee makers. We have made all of our favorite drinks and brewed many, many cups of coffee. It was a lot of work. But, in the end, I have found the best Miele coffee machines.

In this article, I will take a look at what makes Miele such a wonderful option for coffee machines. I will also break down the five best Miele coffee makers. I’ll tell you what to look for in a Miele coffee machine and which options are best for a range of budgets and kitchens.

How to Choose the Best Miele Coffee Maker

We hope that you are reading this article because Miele is on your list of options for high-end coffee makers. Originating in Germany, Miele makes a complete line of full-automatic coffee machines.

One of the biggest confusions for individuals looking to purchase a Miele machine is that many look very similar. This can make it hard to narrow the options. Before I share with you our five best Miele coffee makers, I want to help you understand what you are shopping for.

Types of Miele Coffee Makers

When you are shopping for Miele coffee makers, you will quickly find that they offer two options, and one is sort of unique. You will obviously find the countertop option for Miele coffee machines. But the really great Miele option is the built-in coffee machine. These coffee makers are designed to fit into your cabinetry, much like a built-in oven or microwave would.

Miele countertop coffee makers are the most versatile, and if you want to take your coffee maker with you, if you should move, a built-in is not an ideal option. However, if you are designing your dream kitchen, a built-in Miele coffee machine is one of those features that take your space to the next level.

Miele machines are not only well-made, but they also come with all of the new features that you’ll find on most high-end appliances. New Miele coffee makers feature M-Touch controls (similar to the controls on your smartphone). If you aren’t a fan of these fancy new screens, Miele does offer their coffee makers with the traditional style control panel.

Why Choose a Miele Coffee Maker

why choose a miele coffee maker

If you are considering a Miele coffee maker to go with the rest of your Miele appliances, there are some considerations when you are shopping. Not all Miele coffee makers are the same, so you will need to find the one with the right features for your needs.

Ease of Use

The great thing about most Miele coffee machines is that they are a line of fully-automatic appliances. You don’t have to work too hard to make your favorite coffee drinks using any of the Miele coffee makers.

Even with the traditional control panel options, brewing a cup of coffee or espresso can be accomplished with just the touch of a button. You can also use your Miele to make perfectly temperature water for a cup of tea or hot cocoa.

Making coffee drinks with milk can be a challenge with other machines. With the Miele coffee makers, you simply slide the included glass container into the machine and let the coffee maker do the work. The container can go directly into your refrigerator, and because it is clear, you don’t have to wonder how much milk is left.

Taste

I have found that the Miele coffee machines make some of the best-tasting coffee drinks. These machines perfectly measure coffee grounds, the warm water to the perfect brewing temperature, and stop the brewing process at the ideal moment.

This combination of ideal brewing conditions comes from the Miele Aromatic System. The Aromatic System provides you with the five brewing conditions for a perfect cup of coffee, all at the touch of a button.

Bean Type: The Miele coffee maker is made to easily manage all types of beans. Whether you like a light roast or a deep, dark espresso roast, the Miele can handle the task.

Grind Size: Different coffee styles require different grind sizes. The Miele has a fully adjustable conical burr grinder.

Water Temperature: If you just want to easily make a good cup of coffee the Miele offers you the option for selecting brewing programs that warm your water to the ideal temperature for the style. However, if you want to adjust or customize your favorite drink, the Miele coffee machines give you the option to adjust the temperature of your brewing water.

Pre Brewing: This is a feature that many coffee makers do not have, but it really makes coffee from a Miele delicious. Miele machines come with a pre-brew soaking setting. This setting dispenses a small amount of water to your coffee grounds, allowing them to soak before the brew cycle begins. This gives you a more robust coffee flavor.

Beverage Size: Each drink has a default size setting. However, if you want a bigger cappuccino or a double shot of espresso, you can customize the size of your coffee.

Durability

Miele appliances were originally designed for commercial kitchens, so they know how to engineer appliances that will last. These coffee makers are exceptionally well-built but also come with cleaning programs that keep your machine in tip-top shape.

Many new owners of Miele coffee makers will be very surprised to learn that the descaling and cleaning programs that are pre-set in the machine, cannot be bypassed. This does create a bit of frustration at first, but when you realize how great these programs are, you will be glad they work.

Periodic cleaning and descaling of your Miele coffee machine will keep parts like the water pump, grinder, and milk frother working well. They also dramatically improve the taste and aroma of your morning cup of coffee.

The reason for this insistence on cleaning and maintenance programs that are not optional is simple. Miele owners spend good money on these appliances, and they expect them to last for years. Miele prides itself on appliances that last, in perfect working condition for more than 20 years.

Capacity

When you are shopping for a Miele coffee maker, you do want to consider capacity. Knowing how many people you are going to be serving is important to purchase the proper machine. Certainly, a machine for two people is going to be a bit different than a coffee maker that is ideal for your office kitchen.

Miele coffee makers are all designed to make a single cup of coffee, but they are also equipped to make two drinks at the same time. This can be very handy if you and your spouse like different drinks but want to enjoy them together.

When shopping for your Miele coffee maker, do consider the capacity of the water reservoir. This will give you a good idea of how much coffee you can make before refilling the reservoir. The same consideration should be given to the bean hopper and milk pitcher.

If you don’t want to deal with the chore of filling the water reservoir, and your kitchen has the capability, consider a built-in Miele coffee maker with a plumbed water line. This option means you will never run out of water.

Our Top 4 Best Miele Coffee Makers

top miele coffee makers

You really are not going to find a bad option if you are buying a Miele coffee machine. Whether you select a built-in or countertop option, they all make a delicious cup of coffee.

After trying out a number of Miele machines, I have settled on the four machines below as my picks for the best Miele coffee machines.

1. CM6 Series Miele CM6360

My favorite Miele coffee machine is the CM6 Series model CM6360. This countertop coffee machine perfectly fits into any kitchen, without needing to be built into your cabinets. And, it comes with all of the same features as the Miele built-in models.

The Miele CM6360 is a perfect complement to any kitchen. It comes in three finish colors: white, black, and black with pearl. While this machine looks amazing on your counter, don’t let it fool you, it is a beast of a coffee maker.

This automated coffee machine is more like a personal barista than a coffee maker. It perfectly grinds coffee beans for your desired coffee drink, heats the water to the perfect temperature, uses 15 bars of pressure for extracting your coffee, and perfectly froths your milk. All you have to do is select your favorite drink, with just the push of a button.

Once your coffee is done, the Miele runs a cleaning cycle after each brewing session. This cleaning cycle keeps your Miele coffee machine working perfectly.

The CM6 series makes a wide range of coffee drinks and non-coffee drinks. It comes with a full-size coffee pot so you can even use this handy machine to make drip coffee for entertaining a crowd.

The Miele CM6360 does not use paper filters or coffee pods, so you don’t have to worry about paper or plastic waste. The easy-to-remove grounds bin allows you to toss used grounds into the trash or your compost bin. The removable milk pitcher goes into the fridge when you are done.

If you need to do a more thorough cleaning, many of the removable parts of the Miele CM6360 are dishwasher-safe, for quick and easy washing.

Pros

  • Attractive yet durable construction
  • Makes a good quality espresso or coffee
  • Styling is practical and simple
  • Easy to clean

Cons

  • Control panel takes some practice
  • Coffee temperature can be pretty hot

2. Miele CVA6800

The Miele CVA6800 was a close second when it came to the built-in coffee maker options. This is a classically styled coffee maker that fits nicely in smaller kitchen spaces.

This super-automatic coffee machine makes all of your favorite coffee drinks. Whether you like a cappuccino, latte, espresso, or just a simple cup of coffee, the CVA6800 can make your perfect drink. It can even steam milk for hot chocolate or dispense perfectly heated water for a cup of hot tea.

One of the things I loved about the Miele CVA6800 is all of the surprising automatic features. This coffee maker senses the size of your cup and brews enough coffee and steamed milk to fit the cup. It also automatically adjusts the dispensing module to the right height.

The one-touch programming and Aromatic System allow you to enjoy a perfectly brewed beverage for your taste.

The CV6800 can be plumbed into your house water but also comes with a 78-ounce water reservoir. This is one of the larger reservoirs we’ve seen on high-end coffee machines. It means that you won’t be refilling your coffee machine constantly, and I like that convenience.

Pros

  • All pre-programmed drinks can be customized
  • Comes with automated cleaning programs
  • Large water reservoir
  • Can be plumbed to water supply

Cons

  • More expensive Miele machine
  • Challenging installation, use a professional

3. Miele CM6150 Coffee Maker

Not everyone needs or wants a super fancy coffee maker. The Miele CM6150 coffee maker is the perfect option for the coffee lover that just wants to make their favorite coffee drinks without all the added extras.

While the CM6150 is a simple option in the Miele line, it does offer the best of the Miele features. I liked the easy-to-program, one-touch controls. You can easily set the machine to make an espresso or a variety of coffee drinks.

If you want to make two drinks at the same time the CM6150 also gives you this option. For even greater convenience, the CM6150 has programmable user profiles for easy brewing of your favorite drink, every morning.

When it comes to maintenance and ease of use, the CM6150 does feature Miele’s pipework flushing cycle for the milk dispensing plumbing. You will also find pre-programmed cleaning settings for simple maintenance. For deeper cleaning, all of the removable parts of this machine are dishwasher-safe.

One feature of the Miele CM6150 that I was not excited about was the burr grinder. While it works amazingly, it seemed to be louder on this model than other Miele coffee makers. It isn’t a deal breaker, but we sure wish that it wasn’t quite so noisy.

Pros

  • For a smaller machine, makes a really good coffee
  • Easier to use than many super-automatic machines
  • More affordable Miele coffee maker
  • Has space for 10 unique user profiles

Cons

  • More time intensive for cleaning and maintenance
  • Does not come with a milk pitcher
  • Cannot be plumbed into water line

4. Miele CM5 Series CM5310

We’ve looked at a few machines from the Miele CM6 line, but we do think it is worth adding an option from the CM5 series. The biggest selling point of the CM5 series is that they are significantly less expensive than the CM6 series. If you want a Miele but are feeling a bit of sticker shock, the CM5310 is worth a look.

Price aside, the CM5310 is not as functional as its CM6 series counterpart. It will still make a great cup of coffee, espresso, or your morning latte, but you won’t be able to save your favorite program. This is a minor trade-off if you are looking for exceptional coffee quality but are on a budget.

As with the CM6 series coffee machines, the CM5310 does give you the option of making a single cup of coffee or an entire pot. This is one of the best features of the whole Miele line. You don’t need to have this machine for espresso drinks and another machine for coffee.

The CM5310 is a newer option in the Miele line, and one of the biggest highlights of this machine is the silent grinder. Where we were disappointed in the noise level of the CM6 series, we are equally impressed with the nearly noiseless operation of the CM5 series grinder.

The CM5310 is a great machine, but it is a bit on the small side. However, if you want a Miele and have a smaller kitchen, this machine may be a great option.

Pros

  • One of the quietest burr grinders on the market
  • Outstanding materials and construction
  • Removable components are dishwasher safe
  • Affordable price for a luxury machine

Cons

  • Surprisingly small water reservoir
  • Cannot program user profiles

Final Thoughts

The Miele line of appliances isn’t one that you hear about frequently. However, there are plenty of people that know that Miele makes some of the best kitchen appliances for your home. The Miele line of coffee makers is no exception.

Our favorite Miele coffee machine, the super-automatic and compact CM6360 is the perfect coffee maker for every kitchen. It offers versatility, ease of use, and comes in a beautifully designed package that will look amazing on your counter.

While these are our picks for the best Miele coffee machines, there are numerous other Miele coffee makers that may fit your needs as well. As you are shopping for your own Miele machine, look for the product that fits your budget, but that will also give you all of the coffee-making options in the perfectly sized package for your home or office.
