Vodka is a distilled, alcoholic beverage that has been produced for centuries and enjoyed worldwide. It is generally made by combining a base product (from grains, fruits, and vegetables) with water and yeast which turns the natural sugars into alcohol. From there the beverage is distilled and filtered to remove impurities before it is bottled or aged.
Among the countries worldwide that produce vodka is Ukraine. Several brands originate from or produce vodka in Ukraine. We are going to look at some of the top Ukrainian vodka brands that are available on the market.

1. Khor Platinum Vodka
Khor Vodka is produced by the Khortutsa Distillery and currently exports its product to more than 87 countries across the world. The brand was established in 1998 by Evgeny Chernyak and began selling alcoholic beverages in the same year.
This vodka is 100% gluten-free, and made from durum wheat and corn, making it an ideal option if you have a gluten intolerance or gluten allergy. There are three main products available for purchase: The original Khor Platinum Vodka, Khor Vodka de Luxe, and Khor Vodka Ice.

2. Pristine Vodka

Pristine Vodka originated in the Carpathian Mountains in the South-West of Ukraine. The water used to produce the vodka is thermal and mineral, making for a pure and fresh vodka product. The ground in the Eastern Carpathians contains sedimentary and volcanic deposits making for natural and flavored spring water.
The brand uses wheat as the base product for its vodka which is grown in black soil retains moisture and is filled with nutrients and minerals. Using a recipe perfected across the brand’s history, a gravity filtration system is used to create an all-natural distillation process.

3. Nemiroff Vodka

Nemiroff was established in 1872 in Nemyriv town. The brand uses water that is naturally mineral filtered and remains pure throughout the production process. It is made using natural grains which are combined with natural water and yeast to produce vodka. An 11-stage filtration process leaves a refined and rich flavored vodka.
This vodka is sold at an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40% (80 proof) and can be bought for an average price of $14 (excluding tax) per 750 ml. The Original is available in 50ml, 100ml, 200ml, 370ml, 500ml, 700ml, 1-liter, and 1,75-liter sizes. It has a flavor profile of honey, spices and herbs, and chili peppers.
Aside from the original De Luxe recipe, there are eight flavored variations available for purchase. These flavors include Nemiroff Delikat, Nemiroff Ukrainian Honey Pepper, Sweet and Sour, Bold Orange, Honey Pear, De Luxe Special, Nemiroff Lex, and Nemiroff de Luxe Rested in Barrel.
4. First Guild Vodka
First Guild Vodka is a vodka brand owned by the Bayadera Group in Ukraine. It is a brand of premium vodka that is made using fine ingredients and locally sourced water in the production of their vodka. The vodka is made from selected alcohol of the Lux variety which means it is prepared from grain as a raw material.
The vodka goes through a purification process that involves eight stages using coal columns containing birch charcoal, then a platinum filtration unit, then a coconut charcoal filtration. It has a mild taste and a pleasant aftertaste that makes it an ideal sipping vodka. At alcohol by volume (BV) of 40% (80 proof), you can buy this vodka in 700-milliliter bottles.
First Guild Vodka Prestige can also be bought in 700ml bottles with an ABV of 40%. Povazhna, Verhovna, Znatna, and Grand are available in 500ml and 700ml bottles, at an ABV of 40%.
5. Zirkova Vodka
Zirkova Vodka was started by two Canadians who aimed to bring Ukrainian vodka to Canada. The distillery was established in 1896 in Zolotonosha and has produced Zirkova vodka since 2002. The distillery is positioned in an area that gives the brand unlimited access to naturally filtered water that is combined with the base ingredients to create unique vodka.
Wheat and rye are used as the main ingredient, which is ground down and used for the vodka mash. These grains are grown in black soil which has a high nutrient content and makes for a flavorful and rich vodka.
It has subtle notes of pepper, lemon zest, and anise seed which originate from the wheat, while the rye adds a delicate nutty sweetness to the beverage.
The vodka is made in small batches to ensure the quality is upheld throughout the production process. Zirkova One is the first product available from the brand and has been designed to be drunk neat, on the rocks, as the base for a martini, or combined with a mixer.
Zirkova Together is their second variation that has been produced for mixers and as a main ingredient in cocktails. The unique flavor profile makes it an ideal option to be drunk neat even though it is designed to be drunk differently.
6. Dima’s Vodka
Dima’s Vodka is a Ukrainian brand of vodka that uses a combination of three grains in the production of the beverage. The unique climate and black ‘super soil’ in Ukraine make for good conditions to grow quality grains.
Dima’s is made from a combination of barley, rye, and wheat which make for a rich and full flavor profile with a clear vodka product as the result.
The brand has several products available for sale. The original recipe is available in 700-milliliter bottles at an average price of $40 with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40% (80 proof). The tasting notes of the vodka are a slight sweetness from Brazil nuts and bread, with hints of vanilla, light spice, and a cereal earthiness.
