Established in only 2001, Hpnotiq Liqueur is a fairly new product to the market, compared to many alcoholic beverages.

With its unique name, which is pronounced as ‘hypnotic’, there are high hopes for this drink. The beverage grabs attention thanks to its eye-catching sky blue color.

Created with a mix of alcoholic beverages, this drink has been crafted to be used in several different ways. But what does a bottle of Hpnotiq Liqueur cost? And how exactly do you drink it?

We will look at the different varieties of Hpnotiq available and how they should be drunk below!

A Brief History of Hpnotiq

history of hpnotiq

The story of how the idea of Hpnotiq Liqueur was created is quite an unconventional one.

Founder, Raphael Yakoby was just a college dropout from Long Island, New York, who was living with his parents at the time. When he walked past Bloomingdales one day and saw a blue perfume.

Seeing this blue perfume inspired Raphael Yakoby to create a liqueur with a striking color like that. And thus, the idea of the sky blue drink was born.

It is not clear what gave Raphael the idea to name the beverage Hpnotiq, but with an infamous color like that, it fits just right!

With a little help from his family and friends, Raphael Yakoby was able to bring his idea to life and create his striking blue Hpnotiq Liqueur. It was not an instant success and took some promoting and advertising to get on its feet.

But today, the brand name is featured in a number of popular songs and is sold in countless restaurants and bars.

Interestingly, although this alcoholic beverage is native to New York, it is produced and bottled at a distillery in France.

The distillery is called Heaven Hill Distilleries and they bought the trademark and distribution rights from Raphael Yakoby back in 2003.

Hpnotiq Liqueur is a blend of different alcohols, including fruit juices, cognac, and premium French vodka.

This blend selection gives the flashy liqueur a fruity and tropical flavor. But the actual process of how this drink is made is slightly more in-depth than just throwing together a few ingredients.

To make this iconic drink, the distillery combines a selection of five different and distinct cognacs, each aged in oak barrels, with French-made vodka.

The vodka used is triple distilled in minor batches from grains. It is made using spring water as well as charcoal filtration which in turn produces a smooth taste.

The cognacs included in this alcoholic beverage are Fins Bois, Petite Champagne, Borferies, Grande Champagne, and Fins Ordinaire.

Along with the cognacs and vodka, the master blenders include a number of unknown, tropical fruit juices.

Although the company has not acknowledged the exact fruits that go into the blended drink, they have confirmed that they are naturally derived from the juicing of real fruits.

You can expect a bold fruity flavor from this beverage with hints of passionfruit as well as mango and sweet background. There are also a few notes of citrus.
